Testing Services
Our assessment process begins with an Intake appointment and concludes with Feedback so that you can feel confident about the results of your assessment. Both the Child-Focused Feedback and Child-Focused report are designed to support your child's understanding of their unique profile, highlighting their strengths while also providing a rationale for skills practice and structured support in areas where they may benefit. We find that older elementary-age children and adolescents benefit most from these services. These child-focused options are available as add-ons to your testing package.

Insurance
01
In-Network Plans
McKee Collaborative Therapy has partnered with Headway to increase access to affordable mental healthcare for all! We are currently in-network with:

-
Aetna
And we are looking to panel with additional insurances in the future!
02
Out-of-Network Benefits
If we are not paneled with your insurance, you may still be eligible for reimbursement. Many insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits that cover part or all of the costs of services. We are happy to provide a Superbill detailing services and fees for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
03
Psychoeducational testing and insurance
Insurance companies do not cover academic testing, as it is not considered a medical service (though a valuable service, nonetheless!). Should you choose to move forward with a psychoeducational testing package, McKee Collaborative Therapy will submit eligible portions of your service to your insurance company and will provide you with an invoice for any services that are not able to be submitted to insurance.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
What do I tell my child about McKee Collaborative Therapy?Whether you are starting therapy, pursuing coaching or more general support, or seeking a psychological evaluation, we want you to know we're on your team! When discussing an upcoming visit with your child, we encourage you to use warm, affirming language so that your child feels reassured that they are not in trouble and there is not something "wrong" with them. Quite the opposite, in fact! Children and families often see a psychologist or therapist so that they understand themselves and others better, which leads to better communication, and happier, healthier relationships. This language is similar to what we typically use in explaining the therapeutic process to new, young clients when we first meet. We may also choose to include specific examples of targets or goals that we often see, which usually overlap with areas you may notice your child would benefit from support. By highlighting that we work with other children with similar presentations, children often feel less stigmatized and more comfortable engaging in the process. Great care is taken to meet each child where they are, and sessions are structured at a pacing that feels comfortable to them. Our primary goal at the start of any therapeutic relationship is to create an environment where each child feels they can truly be themselves and that they are in a space they are happy to return to. Prioritizing rapport and gaining client buy-in at the beginning allows the true magic of therapy to happen! Check out the sample script below for examples of how you might structure this conversation with your child. Remember to choose a neutral time when your child is feeling fresh and fulfilled. Think well-rested, well-fed, and generally in a positive mood: "I wanted to talk to you about something I'm excited about. We're going to visit a (psychologist/therapist/coach), which is a special person who helps kids and families. It's like having a friend or teacher who knows a lot about feelings and can help us understand and manage them better. They're really good at providing support and finding ways to make things easier for us. Just like when you see a doctor for a check-up to keep your body healthy, seeing a (psychologist) helps keep our minds and hearts healthy. It's a wonderful opportunity to talk about anything that's on your mind and find new ways to feel happy and strong. Remember, it's okay to ask questions and share your thoughts—it's all part of getting the best support for you!" This approach can help your child feel more comfortable and supported as you prepare for the visit.
-
What should we call you?Professionally, I go by Dr. McKee, which is how I will introduce myself in school meetings or professional settings. However, during our time together, I aim to foster an equal and collaborative partnership where you, your child, and your family feel familiar and comfortable with me. To create this welcoming environment, I encourage families to call me by my first name: either Dr. Rachel or just Rachel, whichever feels most comfortable for you!
-
Do you have after-school appointments?Absolutely! We know how important it is for kids' mental health and success to maintain a consistent schedule, and that includes being able to attend school regularly. As our primary client population is school-age children, though, our after-school appointment times are the first to go. If your child has flexibility in their school schedule, please let us know and we are most likely to be able to accommodate your scheduling needs.
Good Faith Estimate
A Good Faith Estimate is a document that outlines the estimated costs of services. It offers transparency and clarity regarding potential financial obligations, allowing individuals to make informed decisions about their care. A Good Faith Estimate typically includes details such as the anticipated costs of services, including fees for consultations, treatments, and any additional charges. Healthcare providers are required to provide patients who are not using insurance a Good Faith Estimate of the bill for healthcare services rendered. By having a Good Faith Estimate, individuals can better understand their financial responsibilities, inquire about alternative options, and plan accordingly for any potential costs associated with their treatment or services. This document promotes transparency, affordability, and accountability in the provision of services, empowering individuals to make informed choices about their healthcare.
